Academy

Ages 7 to 18

Our Academy is the next step in the dance journey, offering a progression of classes that challenge and inspire as dancers grow in skill and artistry. Classes are structured to provide a comprehensive education in ballet, encompassing both technical proficiency and artistic expression, within a positive, encouraging environment.

Academy ballet classes often require prerequisites or placement, in order to ensure that each dancer is appropriately challenged and placed in classes that align with both their skill level and age. As dancers advance through the academy levels, they encounter a curriculum that increases technical mastery and artistic depth. Each class builds upon the skills acquired in previous levels, creating a dynamic and cohesive learning journey tailored to the individual growth of each student.

Placement Information

When dancers reach the age of 7, we offer two distinct yet interconnected programs: the Pre-Academy and the Academy, each tailored to meet the diverse needs and aspirations of our students.

Classes in our Pre-Academy and Academy range from beginner to pre-professional levels, and consist of open enrollment classes (meaning no pre-requisites or placement class are required to join) and placement-only classes (that require a placement class and approval to enroll).

At our studio, the Pre-Academy and Academy work in harmony to provide a comprehensive and progressive ballet education. Whether you're just starting or a dancer with extensive experience, our programs are designed to support and nurture your passion for ballet, ensuring a fulfilling and enriching dance experience at every level.

Placement classes are the best way to know which of our levels are most appropriate for your dancer, what they will benefit from, and where they will grow the most!

If your dancer is between the ages of 7 and 18 and you are new to our studio, or returning to classes after a break, please request a placement below. Dancers younger than 7 years do not need a placement class- please register according to your dancer's age at the start of the session!

Young Ballerinas

Ballet 1B builds upon classes in our Primary Program, while still appropriate for beginners. Dancers work through creating a strong ballet foundation that can be built upon as they get older. Technique, artistry, and proper French terminology are introduced. This level follows the basic order of a regular ballet class- warm-up, ballet barre, center work, and "across the floor". Dancers in Ballet 1B learn proper ballet in an age-appropriate, fun-loving, and enjoyable way.

Young Gymnasts

 Ages 7-10

45 min; must be taken in addition to a ballet technique class of appropriate level

Open enrollment

A class designed specifically for students interested in advancing to dancing en pointe in the future. There is emphasis on strengthening the feet/ankles, balance and coordination, and maintaining proper alignment/turnout. While this is a strengthening class, we build an environment where there is camaraderie, and dancers can still have fun so that they forget they are gaining strength. Class is taught age appropriate to the dancers enrolled in class.
